  4. DESCRIPTION
  5.  
  6.      TORAH SOFER (Torah Scribe) is a shareware Hebrew font package for
  7. MS Windows. Its typeface replicates the style used in Torah scrolls in
  8. regular, bold, and bold italic weights. There are all 27 letters of
  9. the Hebrew alphabet plus four punctuation characters. As with
  10. scriptural Hebrew style written in the Torah, no vowel signs or
  11. points, no "sh'va", and no cantillation marks (disjunctives and
  12. conjunctives) are supported as may be done with other Hebrew font
  13. packages. Although scriptural Hebrew does not use punctuation, modern
  14. Hebrew does, and the "soph-pasuk" (:), "makkeph" (-), single prime (')
  15. and double prime (") marks are included as a conveience.

  34.      TORAH SOFER is distributed with both TrueType (.TTF) and
  35. PostScript/Adobe Type 1 (.AFM, .INF, .PFB, and .PFM) files which allow
  36. scalable point sizes and provide support for printers supported by
  37. Microsoft Windows. Since the TORAH SOFER font is attached to the
  38. operating system of Microsoft Windows and is not part of a particular
  39. Word Processor, it is available to any and all Windows executable
  40. programs which allow for full font selection.

  43. FONT INSTALLATION:

  45.      EUROPEAN TrueType and PostScript fonts are installed like any
  46. other fonts of the same type.

  49. REGISTRATION:
  50.  
  51.      TORAH SOFER is available as shareware. It may be examined,
  52. tested, and tried out for free on a 30-day trial basis for the purpose
  53. of determining whether TORAH SOFER is suitable for your needs. The use
  54. of unlicensed copies of TORAH SOFER, outside of the initial 30-day
  55. trial, by any person, business, corporation, government agency or any
  56. other entity is strictly prohibited.

  58.      The use of TORAH SOFER, except for the initial 30-day trial,
  59. requires registration (See REGISTER.DOC) and payment of a registration
  60. fee of $5.00 ($US). At this price, I won't become a millionaire but it
  61. will not break **your** bank. It merely helps pay for the commercial
  62. software used in creating these fonts in the first place and provides
  63. encouragement for the creation of future products.

  66. OTHER PRODUCTS:

  68.      The following other shareware fonts are available:

  70.      EUROPE20.ZIP - It allows the user to add those additional letters
  71. having various diacritical marks as well as several unique characters
  72. for European languages using the Latin (non-Cyrillic) alphabet. Many
  73. of these characters are not provided as extended ANSI characters for
  74. the standard Arial (Universal/Helvetica) and New Times Roman fonts
  75. that come with MS Windows. These diacritical marks include the grave,
  76. acute, tilde, dieresis (umlaut), Hungarian umlaut, macron, breve,
  77. circumflex, caron, ring, cedilla, lenis, asper, and several others
  78. with non-household names. Special letters include the slash O and L,
  79. German double S, and AE.

  96.      EUROPEAN is an economical and affordable alternative to
  97. commercial foreign language word processors and add-on fonts costing
  98. $99 and more. The use of EUROPEAN, except for the initial 30-day
  99. trial, requires registration $10.00 ($US) for the 5-¼" disk (add $1
  100. for the 3-½" disk); Overseas add $1 for airmail.

  103.      TKRTAPE.ZIP - Simulates letters, whole numbers, dollar fractions,
  104. and symbols that appear on a stockbroker's ticker tape or on the
  105. "ticker tape" screen display on cable TV channels such as CNN and
  106. CNBC. This font was developed for writing the book: "The Informed
  107. Investor's Guide to Financial Quotations: Evaluating Stocks, Bonds,
  108. Mutual Funds, Futures, and Options" by Howard M. Berlin, published
  109. 1994 by Business One-Irwin, a division of Times Mirror. Registration
  110. fee $5.00 ($US).
